I agree with Abbie. I avoided Twitter until recently, but have now found it a great way to connect and network with the travel writer community. How you do anything is how you do everything. The self-absorbed people will use twitter to their benefit, and people looking to exchange ideas and info will do likewise.

I avoided Twitter as long as possible because I didn't feel the need to update the world any further than my Facebook status. I have since learned to use Twitter as a networking tool for my writing and to promote other things that I like, and have found it an easy way to see what others are promoting. I have found it to be very useful in that respect, and have even found out about free Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf drinks (twice!) thanks to Twitter :)
