I'm so bad about planning these types of things, and one of my closest friends has had an earthquake kit since the day after she moved to the SF Bay Area (though the emergency bottle of wine has been drunk). My husband and I have been working on finishing up our go bags and getting the house and car kits together, building up cash reserves, water and food storage etc. People here in the US have come to rely on the government for so many basic services that we are no longer prepared for even basic emergencies.
