Having worked in the IT Industry for over 6 years now I know just how much more reliable a good quality computer is. We've learned this the hard way by traveling through countries with very bad internet connections. You can prepare everything offline, but it doesn't mean anything if you can't post it or send files to a client. I can't say enough about backing up data often and in multiple locations. If you're going to be moving around a lot, your gear is going to get bounced around a lot. We've had two laptop hard drives fail on us in the last three years. I agree with Pam – a reliable internet connection is king. We’ve learned this the hard way by traveling through countries with very bad internet connections.
